Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities listed below are typical of this position, but other tasks may be assigned as required.

  • Selects, positions, and aligns dies in the machine ram and bed.

  • Secures dies by tightening setscrews or bolts and clamping bars.

  • Adjusts screws to set ram pressure and die clearance according to metal thickness using calibrated scales or feeler gauges.

  • Lays out workpieces from blueprints or templates.

  • Manually positions workpieces to align layout marks with dies.

  • Operates the machine by lowering the ram or using a foot pedal to bend or cut metal.

  • Sets stops on the machine bed and repositions stock for successive operations or multiple bends.

  • Programs CNC back gauges for automated brake operations.

  • Verifies dimensions of finished workpieces and inspects parts to blueprint specifications.

  • Designs and fabricates temporary dies and stops for production runs.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related press brake setup and operation experience.

  • Must be able to pass a flat pattern test administered by the Shop Foreman.


Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and supervisors.


Mathematical Skills:

  • Proficient in basic math, including proportions, percentages, area, and circumference.

  • Able to apply concepts of algebra and geometry as needed for layout and setup.


Reasoning Ability:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.

  • Capable of handling problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.

  • None required.
